Introduction of the artists of India-Pakistan Music Show
Mrunal Dharmadhikari belongs to a prominent classical music family of Nagpur. She started learning classical music from her mother at the age of eight. Mrunal got BA in Economics and earned Sangeet Vishard degree from Akhel Bhartiy Gandharwa Maha Vidyalay. The degree is equivalent to Master of Arts. In Poone she learned music from Manjari Alegaonkar. After moving to US she continued learning classical music from Kalpana Zokarkar.
Suruchi Alawani was introduced to classical music at the age of seven by her mother. She got formal training in classical music from Ranjana Bhide in Poone. She also got Sangeet Vishard degree. After coming to US she has been taking lesson by Shubhangi Sakhalkar. She has been taking part in music events in India and US. Suruchi is giving music education in the Bay Area for the last three years. Suruchi is also interested in light classical music.
Nitin Shah is a software engineer. After coming to US, Nitin took interest in learning Tabla. He learnt Tabla from two maestros Pandit Uttam Chakarvarty and Pandit Swaphan Chaudhury. He is in the Bay Area for the last 24 years. He is also taking interest in singing. At present he is learning classical music from Suruchi Alawani.
Shaiq Chishty, is originally from Karachi where he was fortunate to acquire music training from great performers of classical music. Some of the names are: Ustad Abdul Rasheed Khan, Ustad Raees Khan (Sitarist), Ustad Imrat Khan (Starist) and Pandit Partho Chatterjee. He got several awards for his brilliant Harmonium performance.
Surjit Singh Bawa is a well-known Tabla player in the Bay Area. He has been giving accompaniment to many singers in various music programs. Surjit began learning Tabla at a very early age. His teacher was Prof. Ranjeet Singh of Punjab Gharana. After moving to US. Surjit continued Tabla training from Pandit Partho Chatterjee and Pandit Uttam Chakarvarty.
Shahrukh Chishty, the eldest daughter of Shaiq Chishty, learnt classical music from his talented father. She earned Master's degree from Palo Alto University. She is the winner of several distinguished prizes in various musical event.
Dr. Mahrukh Chishty, the middle daughter of Shaiq Chishty, also learnt classical music from his talented father. She is a qualified Optometrist from Berkeley University. Like her other sisters Dr. Mahrukh is the winner of several distinguished prizes in various musical competitions.
Ilham Chishty is the youngest daughter of Shaiq Chisty. She teaches clinical psychology at the CA State University Hayward. Like her other sisters Ilham is also the winner of several distinguished prizes in various musical shows.
