The Urdu Academy of North America launched new poetry collections of two prominent Urdu poets, Rakhshanda Naveed and Farhat Parveen. The poetry collections - Khamshi Ko Sun Rahi Thi of Rakhshanda Naveed and Guftum by Farhat Parveen - were launched in Urdu Acadmy's August 21, 2016 literary event held at the Chandni Restaurant, Fremont/Newark CA.
Lubna Manzar presented a maqala about Rakhshanda Naveed’s fourth poetry collection “Khamoshi ko sunn rahi thi." Rakshanda Naveed is an eminent poetess. Her published Poetry Books include : 'Phir Wisaal Kaisey Ho', 'Kisi Aur Se Mohabbat', and 'Nainan Utrain Paar'. Ghazal collection: 'Usay Hum Chhoo Naheen Saktey'.
Rakhshanda Naveed is a representative poetess of her era with her unique style.
She amused the audience with the recitation of her poetry. Rakhshanda Naveed is also a Punjabi poetess. She thrilled the audience with her Punjabi renditions.
As usual, Urdu Academy's monthly literary event was divided into two parts. In the second Tashie Zaheer, President of the Urdu Academy of North America introduced Farhat Parveen book Guftum which is her first poetry collection. Her poetry reflects the same depth of human feelings which is reflected in her short stories.
She has three collections of her short stories “The Frozen” “From the window of Restaurant” and “The rocks of glass.” Guftum is her first poetry collection. She has started writing fiction in 90s and soon become a known figure in the history of South Asian Urdu fictions. She has a post-modern approach in all her writings, she gives a real touch of truth fullness to her fictions. she has become an established fiction writer of her age.
Farhat Parveen amused the audience with her poetry recital which drew wide applause.
